After resin polymerization, the wax was removed and replaced by gutta-percha. Standardized size 80 cones of gutta-percha (Hygienic Corp., Akron, OH, USA) were softened by short immersion in a thermostat controlled water bath (45 ± 3°C), and compacted with a larger plugger into the previously described cavity.

Warm gutta percha people have no choice but to clean and shape following very strict guide lines. Therefore (and I think that we are speaking the same language, cause I am sure that we have more points in which we agree than disagree!) we tend to be a a bit more , how should I say it, meticulous when shaping.

Forty extracted human single rooted teeth were prepared chemomechanically and obturated with gutta percha and AH26 sealer cement using the lateral cold condensation technique to a standardized working length of 15 mm. About 10 mm of the coronal gutta-percha was removed with either Peeso-reamer or a hot plugger.
