Caused by pressure gradients. Wind is an attempt to equalize the pressure differential. This differential is the result of unequal heating of different portions of the Earth's surface.

Although wind blows from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure, it doesn't blow in a straight line. That's because the earth is rotating. In the northern hemisphere, the spin of the earth causes winds to curve to the right.

The solar wind is a stream of charged particles ejected from the upper atmosphere of the sun. It consists mostly of electrons and protons with energies of about 1 keV. The stream of particles varies...

The magnetospheric oscillations with this period can be initiated by a solar wind pressure impulse. After the initiation the solar wind no longer plays a role in the subsequent evolution of the magnetospheric oscillations.

The pressure increase created a significant population of protons between a few hundred eV and several keV, whose fluxes were mostly perpendicular to B. These protons seem to have replaced the quiescent stream of protons (presumably convected from the ... Magnetospheric Physics: Solar wind/magnetosphere interactions...

The triangular building can stand up to the most wind pressure. Perhaps people in hurricane-prone areas, such as Florida, should build triangular buildings. My project is about comparing building shapes and how they are affected by wind pressure.
