Chateau d'Yquem is a wine, of course, one not to everyone's taste. It is a heavy, sweet, white drink, of the sort usually called dessert wine. Sweet wines have a mostly justifiably horrible reputation - by far the great bulk of them are grotesque, sickly things sold in screw-top jugs to the paper-bag trade.
