Fusion power - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fusion power is the power generated by nuclear fusion reactions. In this kind of reaction, two light atomic nuclei fuse together to form a heavier nucleus and in doing so, release a large amount of e...

Since the most practical nuclear fusion reaction for power generation seems to be the deuterium-tritium reaction, the sources of these fuels are important. The deuterium part of the fuel does not pose a great problem because about 1 part in 5000 of the hydrogen in seawater is deuterium.

Nuclear fusion is the energy source of the future. It is what provides the sun and the stars with the energy to shine continuously for billions of years. Fusion has been used here on earth to produce nuclear bombs, but has not yet been controlled so that we can obtain useful energy.

Nuclear Fusion. Nuclear energy can also be released by fusion of two light elements (elements with low atomic numbers). The power that fuels the sun and the stars is nuclear fusion. In a hydrogen bomb, two isotopes of hydrogen, deuterium and tritium are fused to form a nucleus of helium and a neutron. ... Nuclear Fusion Movie...

Fusion research in Europe is aimed at demonstrating that nuclear fusion is a viable future energy option which offers long-term, safe, and environmentally benign energy to meet the needs of a growing and developing world population.

Nuclear fission is the process of splitting the nuclei of atoms, which releases energy from within those atoms. Nuclear fusion is the process of joining, rather than splitting, such atomic particles with similar releases of energy.
