HALDIMAND, Sir Frederick, British general, born in the canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland, in October, 1718; died in Yverdun, Switzerland, 5 June, 1791. He early entered the Prussian service, but in 1754, with his friend Bouquet, joined the British army.
