Hormuzd Rassam (1826-1910), Assyrian explorer, was born at Mosul in 1826. He was the youngest son and eighth child of Anton Rassam (archdeacon in the Assyrian Church of the East) and his wife Theresa daughter of Ishaak Halabee of Aleppo, Syria.
