Henriette Gertrud Walpurgis Sontag, a German soprano, debuted in Prague in 1821. Sontag's 1826 Paris debut was as Rosina in the "Barbiere di Siviglia." In 1828 she debuted in England, again as Rosina. Sontag came to the U.S. in 1852, leading Madame Sontag's Italian Opera Company.
